Parma can be easily reached by plane, train, or bus. The city is well connected to major international airports and to the Italian high-speed rail network.
Below you may find some suggestions for your travel to Parma.


By Air

The closest major international airports are:

1. Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ)

To Parma City Center:

  • Airport Shuttle + Train: take the Marconi Express from the airport to Bologna Centrale railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.
  • Bus: direct bus services are available from Bologna Airport to Parma.

2. Milan Bergamo Airport (Orio al Serio – BGY)

To Parma City Center:

  • Airport Shuttle + Train: take the Airport Shuttle from the airport to Milano Centrale railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.
  • Bus + Train: take a bus from the airport to Brescia railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.

3. Milan Linate Airport (LIN)

To Parma City Center:

  • Metro + Train: take the Milan Metro and reach one of the main Milan railway stations and then take a direct train to Parma.
  • Bus: take a bus to one of the main Milan bus stations and then take a direct bus to Parma.

4. Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP)

To Parma City Center:

  • Airport Shuttle + Train: take the Airport Shuttle from the airport to Milano Centrale railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.
  • Bus + Train: take a bus from the airport to Brescia railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.

5. Parma Airport (PMF)

To Parma City Center:

6. Verona Villafranca Airport (Valerio Catullo – VRN)

To Parma City Center:

  • Bus + Train: take a bus from the airport to Brescia railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.
  • Train: take a train to Brescia railway station or to Bologna Centrale railway station and then take a direct train to Parma.

By Train

Parma lies on the main railway line between Milan and Bologna, and is also connected to Liguria and Northern Tuscany via the Parma–La Spezia railway (Pontremolese line). The city is served by frequent high-speed, InterCity, and regional trains.
Parma railway station is within walking distance of the city center and approximately 15–20 minutes on foot from the conference venue.

  • Bologna Centrale is the closest major railway hub to Parma and offers very frequent connections. Direct trains connect Bologna and Parma in approximately 50–60 minutes, with several departures per hour throughout the day.
    Bologna is also a major high-speed rail hub, providing direct connections to Florence, Naples, Rome, and Venice.
    In addition, it serves as an important regional junction for cities in North-Eastern Italy, including Ferrara, Padua, Ravenna, and Verona, from which Parma can be easily reached with a single change in Bologna.
  • Brescia is directly connected to Parma by regional trains on the Brescia–Parma railway line, with a typical travel time of about 1 hour 45 minutes. Direct services run regularly throughout the day.
    Participants travelling from Bergamo can reach Parma also via Brescia.
  • The Ligurian coast and Northern Tuscany are directly connected to Parma via the Parma–La Spezia railway (Pontremolese line). Direct regional trains connect La Spezia and Parma in approximately 2 hours.
    Participants travelling from Pisa can reach Parma via the Pontremolese line.
  • Milan Centrale is one of the main gateways to Parma and offers frequent direct rail connections throughout the day. Trains from Milano Centrale reach Parma in approximately 1 hour and 10–20 minutes.
    Milan is also a major international transport hub, with convenient access from Milan Bergamo Airport, Milan Linate Airport, and Milan Malpensa Airport.
    Participants arriving from cities in Northern Italy, such as Turin, Genoa, and Bergamo, can easily reach Parma via Milano Centrale, where frequent direct trains to Parma are available.
