Visit to the Pilotta Monumental Complex<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Palazzo della Pilotta<\/strong> is one of the most imposing and historically significant architectural complexes in Parma<\/strong>. Located near the banks of the Parma stream, the palace complex was commissioned at the end of the 16th century<\/strong> by Ranuccio I Farnese<\/strong>, Duke of Parma and Piacenza, as part of a broader plan to consolidate ducal power and administrative functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than a single building, the Palazzo della Pilotta is a vast and articulated ensemble of courtyards, halls, and monumental structures, characterized by its sober brick fa\u00e7ades and austere Renaissance style. Its name derives from the Spanish game pelota<\/em>, once played by soldiers in the courtyard, reflecting the strong Spanish influence on the Farnese court during that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the centuries, the Pilotta became the cultural heart of Parma. It houses some of the city\u2019s most important institutions, making it a unique concentration of art, history, and performance spaces. Among its most celebrated landmarks is the Teatro Farnese<\/strong>, an extraordinary wooden Baroque theater built in 1618, considered a masterpiece of theatrical architecture and one of the oldest surviving stage theaters in Europe. Nearby stands the Galleria Nazionale di Parma<\/strong>, which preserves an exceptional collection of paintings, including works by Correggio, Parmigianino, Canaletto, and Leonardo da Vinci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The complex also includes the Biblioteca Palatina<\/strong>, a historic library founded in the 18th century, and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale<\/strong>, which documents the ancient history of the region from prehistoric times through the Roman era. The Voltoni del Guazzatoio<\/strong> are a distinctive architectural element of the Pilotta Monumental Complex in Parma, built across the 16th and 17th <\/strong>century. It characterized by a long sequence of vaulted arcades. They originally served a practical function: allowing horses and carriages to be washed (guazzatoio<\/em>) before entering the palace grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wind ensemble of the University of Parma Orchestra<\/strong> <\/a>presents a concert dedicated to the music of Giuseppe Verdi, celebrating one of the composers most deeply connected with the cultural identity of Parma and its territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through arrangements drawn from the Verdian repertoire, the concert offers a distinctive journey through some of the atmospheres, melodies and dramatic contrasts that have made Verdi\u2019s music universally recognizable. The brilliance of brass and woodwinds brings a fresh perspective to this extraordinary musical heritage, highlighting both its ceremonial grandeur and its most lyrical and intimate qualities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Parma Orchestra brings together students and graduates of the University and, under the direction of Maestro Stefano Zinetti<\/strong>, carries out an active programme of concerts in Parma and beyond. Alongside the classical and symphonic repertoire, the Orchestra has a particular connection with the operatic tradition that plays such an important role in the musical life of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This concert is an opportunity to rediscover Verdi from a new perspective: a meeting between tradition, university culture and the vibrant sound of a wind ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Automatica.run<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

AUTOMATICA.RUN<\/strong> is a 5-kilometer non-competitive walking\/running event held in the scenic setting of Parco Ducale<\/strong>, one of the most iconic and historic green spaces in the city of Parma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event takes place entirely within Parco Ducale, a vast and elegant public garden located in the heart of the city, along the banks of the Parma stream. The flat and accessible course winds through tree-lined paths, open lawns, and historic architectural elements, offering runners and walkers a pleasant and safe environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Length: Approx. 5 km – Maximum time: 1 hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No medical certificate is required, and refreshments will be available after the finish. Comfortable sports shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather are recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special prizes will be awarded to the three institutions, excluding the University of Parma, that register the highest number of participants.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
